Prepare the Cleaning Solution: Bring a pot of water to a vigorous boil. Once it’s bubbling, generously sprinkle baking soda into the water. The amount of baking soda depends on the volume of water; don’t be alarmed if it begins to fizz—that’s a good sign! Add the baking soda gradually to avoid excess.
Immerse the Filters: Use tongs to carefully immerse the filters into the boiling solution. The water will swirl around the filters as the grease starts to loosen. For smaller filters, leave them in the solution for about a minute. For larger filters, consider cleaning them in halves.
Observe the Transformation: After removing the filters from the solution, you’ll notice a significant improvement. The grease and grime will have loosened, making the filters much cleaner. Cooking with these freshly cleaned filters will give you peace of mind and help minimize unwanted cooking odors.
